Blog 4: History Classes doing Enough?

Many graduating seniors in the United States don't know nearly enough about their countries own history. That or they just aren't proficient enough to comprehend the main ideals for why the country is the way it is today. Are teachers to blame for this or is it just one of those subjects we need to except that not everyone gets. Recent tests have shown that only about 12 out of a 100 students are proficient in U.S history. Others don't under stand the key ideas for why this country was founded. Could this develop into a problem that will change the course of the U.S in the future to turn it away from its original ideals?

Blog 3: Mobs in Africa

Violence and revolts in Africa continue to be of increased importance as more and more we see that there is civil unrest within most of the country. Specifically this event takes place in Durban where the native population has lashed out against foreigners. Recent mobs have been revolting and looting shops owned by foreigners. Five have died of late and violence continues to spread. Who knows how many will die in the next wave of violence that is sure to come unless something changes. What have the immigrants done to deserve such treatment? One can only hope that the government will do something to change this.

Obama does it again.

. Obama was suppose to give a speech about a mass killing of over a million Armenians by Ottoman Turks. It was the 100 year anniversary of this event and before Obama became president he had promised to side with the Armenians on this event. Just like many of his other promises he failed to come through and angered and average of 70% of the Armenian population. He sided with the Turkish government and refused to label the killings a genocide because some how the reason for the killings didn't meet the definition of the word. Genocide is a planned killing of a large group of people primarily because of their race or ethnicity. Apparently when over a million Armenians die it is neither planned nor a target of one ethnic group. I'm sure there's a pie chart to prove that somewhere. Obama took the side of the Turkish government because he believes he can not anger them if he wants the their help in further conflicts of the Middle East. Let's try not to make promises we can't keep in the future Obama. As you can tell it does more harm than good. Lolita the Orca would be ashamed of you.
